About Danielle

I began my piano studies very early in life, learning to read music before I learned to read words.  It was the beginning of a lifelong love for the piano.  I went on to study at Boston University where I received my Bachelors degree in Piano Performance.  While there, I discovered that I enjoyed working with singers, and stayed on to get my Masters at B.U. in Vocal Accompanying and Coaching.

After college I spent a few years as a performing pianist, and also worked at the Westport School of Music as a piano teacher.  The school’s director, Martha Hisey, wanted to institute a preschool music program there, and suggested that I go for Kindermusik training.  I was inspired by the program and fell in love with teaching preschoolers.  I taught Kindermusik at the school, as well as a preschool curriculum of my own design at the nearby Southport Congregational Preschool.

In 1997 I went through the Alternate Route to Certification program to become certified to teach music in Connecticut public schools.  I worked at Weston Middle School from 1997-2004 as a General Music and Chorus teacher.

From 1999-2003 I went through four levels of Orff-Schulwerk training under Vivian Murray, Nancy Ferguson, and Jos Wuytack.  I earned my Orff Master Teacher certificate.
I left teaching temporarily to raise my little daughter Heather and be a stay-at-home Mom.  My husband John and I have since decided to open Fanfare Music Studio in our home.
