Music Meadow

Preschool Music Program for ages 3-5

A meadow is a lively, colorful home to many wonderful things – birds, butterflies, small animals, soft grass, and flowers with their amazing scents.  Every day there is something new in a meadow, where life and growth is encouraged to flourish.

Our Music Meadow classes at the Westport School of Music foster a nurturing environment where musical creativity can flourish.  Through movement games, songs, hands-on instrumental exploration, and pretend play, your child will actively experience music while affirming his love for silly fun and imaginative role-play.

Zoom! Away he flies like a rocket headed for the moon!  Hop-hop-hop-there she goes, bouncing along like a fluffy little bunny.

There seems to be no bounds to your busy little one’s imagination.  While at times you may need to reel in the exuberance, you watch in fascination as she spins out a game of pretend for hours.

Music Meadow activities are aimed toward stimulating language, numeracy and cognitive skills as well as emphasizing social graces and group cooperation.  Children will view and explore many types of instruments and perform in small ensembles.

Throughout the program, the children’s participation is encouraged, but never forced.  Parents and caregivers will join their children for part of each class, but not its entirety.  This is to encourage the children to develop a sense of independence and self-confidence within a group.  Parents are welcome to stay with children who are not yet ready to be separate from them.

Each class concludes with a Together Time that includes a family sing-along, dance, game or musical storytelling.

Classes are held at the Westport School of Music, 18 Woods Grove Road in Westport, Connecticut.  Call (203) 227-4931 to register.
